Simple Lower Fat Strawberry Cobbler

Oh how I am a southern girl through and through! My family roots are Georgia and Alabama so I love some good soul food. Spring has sprung and I was looking for a good dessert so I decided to do my strawberry cobbler with a healthier spin. Instead of using whole milk, I used almond milk and when I tell you it was good…. it was BANGING! It only takes 5 mins to prepare it. Super quick and easy but taste like you had your grandma in the kitchen.

This strawberry cobbler is sure to be a crowd-pleaser for Spring and Summer.

Cook time: 45 minutes

1 cup of self rise flour

1 1/2 cup of sugar

1 Cup of Almond milk

1/2 cup of salted butter

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

4 cups of (frozen or fresh) strawberries cut in half

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF
  2. Melt butter in a dish and pour into a casserole pan: 9 X 13
  3. In a separate bowl, mix flour, 1 1/4 cups of sugar, milk and the vanilla
  4. Pour mixture into the melted butter in the pan without stirring.
  5. Add leftover sugar to the strawberries, tossing to coat
  6. Put the strawberries into the butter and dough mixture without stirring.
  • Bake until the cobbler crust turns golden brown usually take 45 mins. Remove from the oven and ENJOY!
